If a blue Windows notice appears, click “More info”

Wait for it to launch — then start capturing
Windows shows that warning because Stepwright is still a new app. It appears less often as more people install it.
The browser extension records anything that happens in a tab and works on Windows and Mac. The Windows app records everything else — desktop software, remote sessions, and the older tools a browser can't see. Most teams end up running both.
Which one do I need?
- Your process happens entirely in web apps — the extension is enough.
- Your process touches installed software, a remote desktop, or an internal tool that is not a website — you need the Windows app.
- It is a bit of both, which is the common case. Install both; a guide recorded on one plays back on the other where the steps allow it.
Using a Mac?
The browser extension runs on Mac, so any process that happens in a browser tab is fully covered. The desktop recorder is Windows only today, so native Mac applications cannot be captured yet.
