The Answers You’ve Been Looking For

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE VISIT?

The first visit to a Foot Care Practitioner is similar to visiting any other doctor. Our relationship with you begins with your initial visit. In order to provide you with the best possible care, we obtain important information about your medical history, any medications you are on, and any surgeries you have experienced.

During this visit, the Foot Care Practitioner provides a thorough assessment on the lower legs, foot and ankle, performs an evaluation, provides a specialized plan of care, provides prevention and treatment education, and makes recommendations for medical follow up. Also, this is a good opportunity to get to know your Foot Care Practitioner.

CAN I GET A PEDICURE INSTEAD?

Pedicures are beauty services provided by non-medical professionals. Healthy patients with no risk for infections or wounds may visit pedicure facilities for services. However, evaluation by a medical provider is need if abnormalities such as corns, callus, fungal toenails, thickened toenails, or wounds are presents.

ARE YOU A PODIATRIST?

No, a Podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine who specialize in treating and performing surgical procedures of the foot and ankle. At Step Wright, LLC, our services are provided by a Nurse Practitioner trained as a primary care provider with specialized training in foot care under the supervision of a Podiatrist.

A Nurse Practitioner, like a podiatrist, can perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays and lab tests, provide counseling and education, and will be evaluating, diagnosing and writing prescriptions. For complex conditions and surgical care, referrals will be initiated to the appropriate point of care.
